The Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center (UHCUS), in partnership with the Ukraine Support Group at St. John's Episcopal Church, Norwood Parish, Bethesda-Chevy Chase, has supported the purchase of evacuation vehicles and the repair of vehicles already in service in Ukraine. The project has resulted in four vehicles being made available to support Ukrainian defenders and medical evacuation efforts.
The initiative began with a fundraising effort to purchase an evacuation vehicle for use in Ukraine. Through the generosity of the St. John's parish community and the work of the Ukraine Support Group, the project expanded beyond its original goal. In addition to funding the purchase of vehicles, the available funds helped cover repairs to vehicles that needed maintenance before returning to service.
Requests for pickup trucks and other vehicles remain among Ukraine's most urgent needs. They transport medics to the wounded, evacuate civilians, and deliver essential supplies. Sometimes, they make the difference between life and death.
