We want to share with you the projects we are working on. We are constantly updating our projects to help people in need. We work on the ground in Ukraine and send humanitarian aid to the most affected regions, partnering with local organizations and volunteers.
Over the past several months, the Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center brought the community together through holiday gatherings, workshops, and charitable events — raising funds to purchase 400 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for evacuation teams and first responders working in Ukraine.

The Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center in partnership with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine have helped fund and support a Point of Resilience in Kyiv's Troieshchyna neighborhood — an area where many high-rise residential buildings remain without heat due to Russia's ongoing attacks on critical infrastructure.

On a winter afternoon, the Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center hosted Skate to Warm Ukraine, a fundraising event held on a frozen pond near St. Andrew's Church. The gathering combined outdoor skating with a humanitarian purpose, raising funds for Points of Resilience in Kyiv. All proceeds will support hot meals and blankets for civilians affected by power outages following Russia's destruction of energy infrastructure in Kyiv’s Troieshchyna neighborhood.

The Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center welcomed 2026 with a New Year's Eve fundraising celebration that combined community, culture, and purpose. The event marked another successful project, with all funds raised designated for the purchase of defibrillators for Ukraine. Guests included longtime supporters returning for their third year, as well as first-time attendees discovering the Center and Ukrainian culture for the first time. The room reflected a diverse and growing community united around a shared mission.

In early November, volunteers gathered at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Silver Spring, Maryland, where the Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center, in partnership with United Help Ukraine and Ukrainian School DC organized a community candy collection drive to bring holiday cheer to children in Ukraine.

In October 2025, the Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center organized Kozak Siromaha Live - a sold-out concert dedicated to supporting Ukraine's defenders.

In June, the Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center completed the delivery of 68 defibrillators to hospitals, stabilization points, and evacuation teams across Ukraine — thanks to the incredible generosity of Rescue One and Jeremy Gruber.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Chip and Joan Filson, the biology classroom at Gymnasium #6 in Zviahel, Zhytomyr region, has been completely transformed. What was once a room with only two microscopes is now a fully equipped science lab. Every student now has access to their own microscope, and the teacher is equipped with a digital microscope that projects onto the classroom whiteboard—turning each lesson into a shared, hands-on exploration of the microscopic world. This project not only enhances the learning experience but also inspires a new generation of scientists and innovators.

Between 2022 and 2024, the neonatal department of the hospital in Dnipro was equipped with critical medical devices to improve care for premature and critically ill newborns.

The Food Box Project, led by the Washington Ukrainian Humanitarian Center, has successfully delivered food assistance to more than 1,500 families across Ukraine. Launched in response to urgent humanitarian needs in war-affected areas, the project provided essential food boxes valued between $20 and $30 each—enough to feed a family of four for several weeks. All food packages were carefully assembled and distributed by our trusted partners and local volunteer organizations in Ukraine.
